Preventative Botox: Is It Worth It for Your 20s? What Does Vogue Have to Say?

Saba Khoziry

In recent years, Botox has become an increasingly popular cosmetic treatment among people in their 20s. While many associate Botox with reducing existing wrinkles, "preventative Botox" is gaining traction as a way to proactively prevent fine lines from forming. According to experts in a Vogue article, preventative Botox involves using smaller amounts of Botox before visible wrinkles appear, with the goal of slowing the formation of deeper lines as you age ("Why Preventative Botox Injections Could Be Aging You," Vogue, 2025).

Unlike regular Botox, which targets existing wrinkles, preventative Botox focuses on areas where wrinkles might eventually form due to repetitive facial movements. The benefits? It may reduce the need for more invasive treatments in the future, and in some cases, can be more cost-effective over time. However, as aesthetic doctors warn, moderation is key. Overdoing it too early can lead to weaker facial muscles and even unintended consequences, such as the need for more Botox in different areas. The advice is clear: seek professional guidance to ensure a conservative approach to injectables.

It's important to recognize that while Botox may seem like a quick fix, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified professional who can tailor the treatment to your individual needs. As Vogue notes, "doing too much Botox on your forehead for many, many years, the muscles will get weaker and flatter" (Vogue, 2025). So, whether you're considering Botox as a preventative measure or to address existing concerns, a careful, informed approach is essential.
