How do dermal fillers work?
How do dermal fillers work?
Most fillers work with providing more support to the skin with the restoration of volume, Hyaluronic acids, and stimulation of collagen production.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler instantly fills your skin, providing volume, and smoothing out facial wrinkles. Results are immediate, although improves over the next 1-2 weeks. HA fillers have the most natural-looking results as they easily integrate into your skin without disrupting your natural facial contours or expressions. In addition to filling wrinkles, HA fillers hydrate the surface of the skin to keep it looking fresh and plump.

How long will the effects of dermal fillers last?
How long will the effects of dermal fillers last?
How long the effects of dermal fillers will last depends on the type of the product, the area of treatment, and the patient.
Hyaluronic acid fillers tend to last shorter; however, they are reversible if you do not like the results or you have side effects. These will typically last from 6 to 18 months. Injections to the lips will wear out a little faster.
Synthetic fillers tend to last longer, as they are not absorbed by the body. They can be a good option for the right patient, but results last for several years and can not be reversed if you do not like the results or show some side effects.
Are there any reasons I should not be treated with fillers?
Hyaluronic acid injectables should not be used if you suffer from autoimmune diseases, have allergies to the anaesthetic lidocaine, are hypersensitive to HA or during immunotherapies; if you have an inclination to proliferative scarring, skin inflammation or infection from punctures; during breastfeeding or pregnancy; when taking drug hemodilution; after pre-treatment with non-biodegradable fillers.
What are the side effects of dermal fillers?
What are the side effects of dermal fillers?
Most of the fillers we use are hyaluronic acid fillers, a natural component of the skin. They are therefore less likely to cause an allergic reaction, and no prior allergy testing is necessary. There may be a reaction to punctures such as discoloration, a light pain sensation or mild to moderate redness and swelling, and pinpoint bleeding or bruising. However, these most common side effects are only temporary and usually disappear within a few days. There is a minimal risk of injury and/or injection of the filler in vessels that can cause significant permanent side effects. That is why dermal filler injections must be done by highly trained and skilled providers who know the anatomy and know how to prevent and manage the side effects. Injection with cannulas can minimize the risk of vascular injuries.
