Cheek Filler Coquitlam Port Moody

Dermal Filler for Cheek Volume Loss

Dermal Filler Injections used as Cheek Fillers are targeted towards volume loss around your cheekbones, which naturally occurs as you age. This treatment can provide you with further defined bone structure, while additionally smoothing out any fine lines and/or wrinkles.

WHAT KIND OF DERMAL FILLER IS USED FOR CHEEKS?

There are two types of dermal fillers that work best as cheek fillers, the primary option is Hyaluronic Acid (HA), and the second is called Polylactic Acid; both anti-aging wrinkle treatments are temporary and require maintenance.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers are the most popular fillers as they are reversible, safe and they achieve natural-looking results. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is our skin’s natural moisturizer; you might have come across it in your day and night skin care.

In your body, hyaluronic acid (HA) fills the spaces between cells, protecting them by retaining water, and serving as a cushion. HA can hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, maintaining the smoothness (moisturizing effect) and plumpness (volumizing effect) of our skin. HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like. The results are temporary, lasting between 6 to 12 months or longer, before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles.

Poly-L-lactic Acid

Poly-L-lactic Acid is a biocompatible (safe to use in the body), biodegradable synthetic substance. It has been used for many years in medical devices, such as dissolvable stitches.

Poly-L-lactic acid products are technically classified as “collagen stimulators,” as their main method to smooth fine lines is by helping your skin rebuild natural collagen—the filler gel itself dissipates a few days after treatment. Poly-L-lactic acid is typically used to treat deeper facial wrinkles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal Filler Treatment FAQ
How do Dermal Fillers work?2021-07-19T09:55:46-07:00

Most fillers work with providing more support to the skin with the restoration of volume, Hyaluronic acids, and stimulation of collagen production.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler instantly fills your skin, providing volume, and smoothing out facial wrinkles. Results are immediate, although improves over the next 1-2 weeks. HA fillers have the most natural-looking results as they easily integrate into your skin without disrupting your natural facial contours or expressions. In addition to filling wrinkles, HA fillers hydrate the surface of the skin to keep it looking fresh and plump.

How long will the Dermal Fillers last?2021-07-19T10:12:45-07:00

How long the effects of dermal fillers will last depends on the type of the product, the area of treatment, and the patient. Hyaluronic acid fillers tend to last shorter; however, they are reversible if you do not like the results or you have side effects. These will typically last from 6 to 18 months. Injections to the lips will wear out a little faster.

Synthetic fillers tend to last longer, as they are not absorbed by the body. They can be a good option for the right patient, but results last for several years and can not be reversed if you do not like the results or show some side effects.

What are the side effects of Dermal Fillers?2021-07-19T10:16:58-07:00

Most of the fillers we use are hyaluronic acid fillers, a natural component of the skin. They are therefore less likely to cause an allergic reaction, and no prior allergy testing is necessary. There may be a reaction to punctures such as discoloration, a light pain sensation or mild to moderate redness and swelling, and pinpoint bleeding or bruising. However, these most common side effects are only temporary and usually disappear within a few days. There is a minimal risk of injury and/or injection of the filler in vessels that can cause significant permanent side effects. That is why dermal filler injections must be done by highly trained and skilled providers who know the anatomy and know how to prevent and manage the side effects. Injection with cannulas can minimize the risk of vascular injuries.
